Picture Frames and Mirror Frames

This was an easy project. The customer had a pine frame and it didn't match after I built their tv stand and new mantle.    The black is the part of the original pine plywood  frame. I just painted it black and added a small piece of oak molding, then a strip of 1/4" oak plywood ,and then finished with another piece of oak molding to cover the edges. The frame looks like it is solid oak It has a red mahogany stain with a coat of sprayed lacquer.    This was an 8' molding I bought at my local home improvement store. I took the picture out of an 8"x10" frame my wife had and cut the molding to size, stained and voila, it looks much better than the old cheap looking frame.    Pine frame and little mirror.           See how I stained the picture frame
See how I built this simple picture frame
