Oak Fireplace Make Over

What a change this custom oak mantel made. The new tile and mantel changed the whole room for the better. The new mantle shelf was easy to build.

This is how the fire place looked with the old mantel removed and before the walls were painted or the new tile was applied to the hearth.
The mantel is made of solid oak and oak plywood. the whole unit stands approximately 9' 6" tall.

All molding is solid oak and was made in shop. Here are some router bits that will help you make your own moldings.

Tile was installed over old tile and brick for an updated look.

Paint, new receptacles, and covers help finish the room.

A red mahogany stain was used with a lacquer top coat.
All crown molding was made in shop
